One of my favorite “study spots” is Barnes & Noble in Park Slope, Brooklyn. They serve Starbucks coffee, which I’m not a great fan off (Dunkin Donuts rocks!), but their pastries are yummy: cheese cake, brownies, cookies, warm apple purse…mmm! It’s also pretty cool that you can read their books or magazines, without having an employee chasing you with “Are you buying that?!!!”
It gets quite crowded, especially during weekends, so to make sure you get a table, try to get there between 10am and noon.
Go here to see the Barnes & Noble at Union Square, Manhattan.
I had a lovely evening with my boyfriend and a few friends at T.G.I. Friday’s on 5th avenue in Manhattan. It was Happy Hour, so two Pink Punk Cosmos where only $15. With this drink, they first put a little piece of pink cotton candy in the glass, then pour the drink over it, and the cotton candy sort of melts and blends with the liquid. I was worried it was going to be too sweet, but it wasn’t. It was perfectly sour and sweet, and dangerously delicious.
Got this knitted sweater at Zara on sale for only $14.99 (original price $59.90). It’s black with some silver thread, and I wore it today with black latex leggings and black Vagabond wedges. Love it!
I travelled back to New York this Sunday, and even though it was more snow in Kristiansand than in Copenhagen, planes there were very much delayed due to the weather. But I had a very pleasant trip, especially from Copenhagen to Newark, as I upgraded my ticket with SAS Bonus Points (Frequent Flyer Miles) from Economy to Economy Plus. Not only did I get a better chair and more space to stretch my legs, but the service was better, as well as the food. I actually had to say No to some quite tempting pastries, because I was too full from all the other stuff.
I have here posted some photos that I took at Hamresanden beach in Kristiansand during January 2010, and as you can see, it was quite snowy, and you can’t really tell where the beach ends and the ice-covered lake starts. Even though snow can be a hassle, as well as cold temperatures, I like how it looks when everything is covered with white snow, and it really creates a cozy and a bit magical atmosphere.
Here are pieces of Norwegian talkshow host Skavlan’s interview with Rihanna, January 22nd, 2010. She seems less guarded and more goofy than in her recent American interviews, and it’s nice that she does not cover up her lovely accent. To see the complete segment, click on channel NRKS’s website.
I’m currently hooked on large sweaters and skinny jeans or denim leggings, and inspired by lovely Rihanna and my favorite fashion blogger Karen, I got this long grey hoodie and black oddly shaped sweater at Gina Tricot. I believe the grey hoodie was 249kr ($45), and the black was on sale for about 149NOK ($27).

Photo borrowed from Karen’s blog WhereDidUGetThat.com: love her grey hoodie and Frye boots.
I got this bolero on 50% sale, for about 250kr ($45) at Villa in Norway. It reminds me of jackets I’ve seen Rihanna been wearing (love her!), and I like to pair it with black jeans leggins or skinny jeans, black t-shirt or turtleneck, and of course, tall boots, booties or bumps. They also had the same jacket in cream white, but I fancied this one more. Especially since the pearls are decorating the jacket quite heavily, I like that the background color is toned down. Basically, I’m immensely happy with this purchase!
Got these laced up leather boots at Euro Sko in Kristiansand, Norway, for 799kr (about $140) on sale. They are warm, with short furry fabric inside, and the shoe bottoms are good for icy roads. Needed something warm, but was fed up of giant boots like snowjogs and UGGs. Also, I really wanted punker boots with laces, and finally I found a pair that is practical for cold weather as well.
They are my second pair of boots in one week, lol! To see the first pair, go here.
Mr Vegas, one of my dancehall favorites, got a new music video out now with lots of fun Jamaican dances. The video consists of two parts, ‘Gallis’ and the Michael Jackson tribute ‘Sassa Step’. I love this stuff, and it makes me wanna dance!
‘It’s Complicated’ with Meryl Streep, Alec Baldwin and Steve Martin is sooo funny!!! Especially the pot scene, LOL! Although I wish it ended differently, the storyline is great, and the actors are fantastic! The movie is for all ages, and for boys too.
I got these beauties for 599NOK (about $104) at DinSko in Kristiansand, Norway. They are my fierce 2010 “biker boots”, and despite the heels, they are actually quite comfy to walk in. It’s not real leather, but I could not resist.
The Christmas is over, and so is 2009; which feels a little sad, yet fresh at the same time. I had a wonderful Christmas time with my boyfriend, family, and friends in Kristiansand, Norway, and spent New Years Eve with good wine and tons of delicious food: turkey, chicken, Ethiopian injera, Somalian sambossa, panacotta for dessert, and several different cakes. Yum!!! My New Year Resolutions are simple: spend more quality time with my loved ones, work hard at school, hit the gym and build some muscle, only eat sweets during weekends, have more fun, stay positive, strong, confident, and continue growing as a person. Last but not least, I wish to make my blog more fun and interesting, and thus, I truly appreciate the comments and guidance I get from YOU telling me what you are interested in reading/seeing. Thanks guys!
I love that we had a white Christmas this year, but because of the cold, my poor hubby has caught a cold. Today he’s laying flat out, though hopefully, he’ll get better before he has to go back to New York in a couple of days. I’m staying in Norway until the end of the month, as the spring semester doesn’t start until January 28th. Until then, I will be working during the week, spend time with family and friends during the evenings and weekends, and enjoy the Norwegian food and fresh air, lol!
I wish you all a very Happy and Exciting New Year!!! Let’s make 2010 even better than 2009.
We had a wonderful time at Kristiansand Dyrepark (Zoo) this Sunday, and even though everything outside was covered with snow, we still got to see few animals: lions, tigers, kangaroos, giraffes, white fox, an otter, owls, and a few more. Here are some photos of a feeding tiger, a giraffe and some cute kangaroos.
I didn’t have time to post these gorgeous photos before Christmas, because I was too busy with my final exams. But here they are: NYC Rockefeller Christmas shots, taken by my bf this December. Enjoy the magic of X-mas!
My boyfriend took these beautiful shots today from my mom’s terrace (go here to see photos of the same view during summertime). It’s been snowing for a while, and this was probably the first snow timeout and sun glimpse since we came to Norway December 23rd. Despite the hassle for those who have to shuffle snow and dig out their cars everyday (I feel for you), I’m really enjoying having a white Christmas for the first time in many years. Also, I am very happy to spend time with my dear family and friends, and I’m excited that my boyfriend could come with me to Norway this year. I wish you all a Merry Christmas (or whichever holiday you’re celebrating), and a promising Happy New Year! Oh, and thanks MUCHO for reading my blog!
I was at Macys yesterday, when we saw smoke in the cosmetics section on 1st floor. Got out of there asap, and from across the street, we saw the many firetrucks arrive. In the evening I read online that there was a fire in the escalator between 3rd-4th floor. Luckily noone was hurt!
